The Greyhound Family

Home

The best decision of my life was choosing Loyola. Being a Baltimore native, I grew up driving up and down Charles street, under The Bridge, and around the Evergreen campus. I always felt a sense of home within Loyola, but it wasn't until my Junior year of high school that I officially decided that it would be my home for the next 4 years.

Loyola's competitive athletics, pride in their sport's teams, and sense of community within the University is what set it apart from others schools for me. Not only would Loyola be the perfect place for me to continue my athletic career, but also a place for me to compete in women's lacrosse. Being a member of the Loyola Women’s Lacrosse team has been a life changing experience as I've been lucky enough to represent my University each day while playing the sport I love with people who were once strangers, but quickly became family.

The Journey of Growth and Community

Loyola is a small, private Jesuit University consisting of about 5100 students; 4000 of them being undergrad. With such a small population, the student-to-faculty ratio is 12:1. This allows for students to connect with their professors from their first day on campus. Small class sizes enables each faculty member at Loyola to foster the growth and education of the students.

As a sophomore at Loyola, beginning my Spring semester, I’ve learned that every student’s journey will look different, and the University tailors to each individual’s needs. No matter one’s background, religion, gender, race, and any other factors, Loyola is a place where all students can feel comfortable in their own skin and expressing themselves without judgment.

Loyola has a particularly inclusive environment which I’ve learned through my time becoming involved in a number of clubs and groups at Loyola. I’m currently a BioHealth major, minoring in Marketing while being a member of SA4SJ (Student Athletes for Social Justice) and Dream on 3 (a club supporting the sports dreams of children with life-altering conditions).

Timeless Evergreen

My favorite memories of my time at Loyola thus far include my times studying with a friend in the quad, walking between buildings with a classmate on a sunny day, and taking-in the natural beauty of the campus during a snowy winter. These memories seem pretty meaningless, but the liveliness of Loyola’s campus never fails to brighten my day.
